Chroma War is a project I am working on with my friend FinlessFish. While listed under the "Games" section, that's only part of what it actually is. Chroma War is going to be an episodic horror video webseries that will tell a story via what seems like recordings of a game, similar to Petscop, but without narration, and instead of focusing on the characters playing/working on the game (Rainer and Paul), it focuses on the in-game characters. There are lots of "fake game" or "This Game I Found" series also similar to Petscop in premise and style, but one pitfall they all seem to have is that the titular "game" isn't actually playable, either being an elaborate animation or just decidedly never to be released. This is the one thing I know I can surpass. After the video series finishes, I want to release the full game. I can actually do this since the video series is made up of actual recordings of me playing a real game I've made. Obviously for the sake of the series it's a bit on-rails, so before I release it I want to take the time and fully flesh out the game, adding a lot of content not in the web series for if the player makes different choices or searches for things outside the original intended path.
As for the story, I'm deliberately keeping that vague on this site, at least until the series finishes. All you need to know is that the game revolves around humans and demons. The demons in this world are less like malevolent spirits, and are closer to something like Tieflings in DnD, or the demons from something like InuYasha. Much closer to humans, but with their own magical/spiritual powers. The main protagonist is a human, but the vast majority of playable characters in the game are demons. Chroma War explores the relationship between these two species. The game is a turn-based RPG with a focus on exploration and story. The player will traverse various areas in search of clues, finding strange characters and locations along the way. Really getting any more specific than that would be a spoiler, so that's all I'll say. The visual style is inspired by the Game Boy Final Fantasy games like Final Fantasy Legend 1-3, and the pixelated mixed-media of Mason Lindroth's older art like Hylics and Muldulamulom. Though it's in grayscale and heavily inspired by Game Boy games, it does not adhere to the console's hardware limitations (if I wanted to do that I'd just program this in GB Studio). I'm making all of the audio and most of the graphics and story, Fin is mainly helping with story and character ideas but is also contributing some graphics. I'll only post my work here, unless Fin gives me permission to post some of his art here too.
